PUF - International Theater Festival
The International Theater Festival PUF (Pula Alternative Festival) has been captivating audiences since its inaugural edition on July 1, 1995. A year later, it earned its defining name and embraced a bold mission to explore theatrical diversity and innovation. As articulated by the festival's artistic director, Branko Sušac, PUF is a celebration of theater as a dynamic dialogue rather than passive storytelling, blurring the lines between life and performance.
In its early years, PUF hosted just one foreign theater company, but it quickly grew into an internationally renowned platform featuring performances from across Belgium, Germany, Norway, Japan, the USA, and many other countries. Each year, it brings daring theater and dance productions that provoke thought, spark conversations, and offer fresh perspectives on contemporary social issues.
Whether it's intimate confessions or critical observations of the world around us, PUF continues to challenge, inspire, and foster creative connections in the vibrant city of Pula.
